Sinara Vijayan
Skills/Experience
Sinara holds a B.Tech in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation from the University of Kerala, India. She received her MSc in Computer Controls and Automation from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 2008. After her masters, she started work with Nanyang Technological University as a Research Engineer. She had actively been involved in research projects mainly in the areas of image processing and image registration.
Role in the Project
Sinara joined the IIIOS project at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim as an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) in 2011. Her project is in collaboration with St. Olavs Hospital, SINTEF (Medical Technology) and National Centre of Ultrasound and Image Guided Therapy in Norway. Her project aims to integrate navigational laparoscopic ultrasound for intraoperative guidance of laparoscopic liver surgeries. She will be exploring methods to solve the orientation problem by using navigation technology to display the ultrasound in combination with preoperative images and improving the intraoperative visualizations of the liver.
